Old Journals Keep or Toss Every season I get the urge to sort through my things, rearrange furniture around the house, and refresh my inventory. Following this exercise, I feel a sense of excitement, which is consistent with holistic physician Isaac Eliaz’s, MD, MS, LAc belief “that the overall energy efficiency and clarity created by good organization truly leads to increased longevity and better health.” You can read his HuffPo guest blog more about why Organization Boosts Health and Vitality here. What about your old journals? Why do you still have them? And do you still need them? Keep healthy mantras Flipping through my SMASH journal from 2012, I wondered if it was helpful or necessary to hang on to the stories from my past. As I re-read where I had copied the 12 symptoms of inner peace, I knew this was something I wanted to hang on to. I cut  it out of the book. Toss your past when it does not offer value for where you are today Next came anecdotes about what recipes I made for book club, various dating tales  (which ultimately led to a previous post, why you are attracting people who are wrong for you),  and exercise and nutrition chronicles. While amusing and evoking feelings of “wow, I can’t believe how much I have grown since then”,  I did not feel these entries did anything else to propel me forward. I kept flipping through. Keep famous quotes What about relationship advice from others? Many of the things people told me during this post-breakup phase resonated. I had jotted them down for reference should I need inspirational reminders. Now I look at them and feel that I could offer these encouragements to others going through a similar phase. A few examples: “People will think whatever they want. You can’t control it. You just have to be OK with whatever happened.” â€" A former boss, over margaritas “Forgive yourself. The relationship that took two people failed. Not You.” â€" an article on the Internet â€" maybe it was this one. “Love yourself. Shine Outward. Listen to your gut.” â€" Mom, during a phone convo “What I think matters just as much as what others think” â€" Me, working through my people-pleasing tendencies. Keep your values My core values in 2012 are consistent with my values in 2016. I tore out the page that honored family, honesty, work ethic, organization, fun, and a healthy lifestyle. Keep your vision of your ideal partner (and a sense of humor) What are the 10 traits your soulmate should have? Back on 12/18/2012 (I date all of my entries, like what am I handing this in to a teacher?) underneath the list of values including family and trust, past the lifestyle and geographic descriptions, there in the lower right hand corner of the page was this: Loves football Crazy about me Basically Daniel Craig* * I did write this, but I was mostly kidding slash alluding to his character traits of being smart, humble, having charisma, etc. Do you keep all of your old musings? Instead of prescribing a universal solution, David and Mike provide enough guidance to make an informed decision based on your particular goals and objectives. Editing. Many transcripts are difficult to read because they are lightly edited, meaning there are long paragraphs that frequently contain distracting digressions and irrelevant comments.   In this case, however, each partners responses are stated in 2 or 3 sentences, rarely exceeding 5 lines of text. Design. The ebook is easy to read, because of its clean, simple, design, landscape format, and short, easy-to-read, line length. The head shots of the participants as they addressed each topic also project the engaged and friendly image youll find in the video. An Interview With Woman of The Year Toby Hassan Fishman - Being a single mom is challenge enough.   Now imagine doing that and also building a successful business.   Toby Hassan Fishman did those, and topped it off recently by being  recognized by the International Business Awards as Woman of the Year  AND by the Best in Biz International Awards as  Creative Executive of the Year! The International Business Awards are the world’s premier business awards program. All individuals and organizations worldwide â€" public and private, for-profit and non-profit, large and small â€" are eligible to submit nominations. The 2018 IBAs received entries from 74 nations and territories.   The Best in Biz International Awards are an independent business awards program judged by prominent editors and reporters from top-tier publications. The awards entrants span a wide spectrum, from some of the most innovative start-ups to the most recognizable global brands. Close to 300 public and private companies from all sectors of the global economy and more than 35 countries competed in the 2018 6th Annual Best in Biz Awards’ International program.   All that said, Ms Career Girl had the opportunity to toss some questions Tobys way.   Here they are, along with her insightful responses: Toby Hassan Fishman On Self-Recognition MCG:   Youve recently achieved some impressive milestones that anyone would be proud of.   Many of us, especially women, have a difficult time giving themselves enough credit.   Often, to even recognize the signs along the way to their successes.   What were the moments in your journey that were the moments when you felt a real wow about yourself?   (dont blush now . . .) TOBY:   Over the past two years as  Eff Creative Group  has grown and weve been solidifying our presence in Singapore, I have had opportunities to meet some tremendously successful businesspeople all across the world. I must admit that sometimes when I walk into a meeting, like when I presented to the CEO of the Singapore Stock Exchange I took a moment to think to myself,  who do you think you are, Toby?  which is something that I think many women reflect on.   Im looking forward to traveling to London this October to accept my award for Woman of the Year.   Which is definitely going to be another wow moment. Ill be feeling incredibly proud and validated.   On Motivation MCG:   In the moments of frustration, or even fear, how did you motivate yourself to keep going?   TOBY:   As a single mom, there is no other option. In moments of frustration I always think of my daughters who are relying on me 100%. I also have an incredibly supportive and talented team, so there is no such thing as needing to tackle a situation alone. On Goals And Progress MCG:   We all have our personal mantra.   Whats yours, and how did you adopt it?   TOBY:   My personal mantra is slow and steady wins the race.’ Although Eff Creative Group has grown at an unusually fast pace, exceeding all of our expectations, the way that we approach individual projects (and life in general) is with a more calculated and strategic approach. Setting goals for yourself personally and professionally, without the pressure of ‘when, recognizing that that is sometimes outside of our control, is so important. On Perspective MCG:   Were often asked what wed tell our younger selves.   Looking the other way, what would you like to tell your 40-something self?   TOBY:   I hope to be congratulating myself on continued success and still looking 30!
